Abstract  This paper analyses the role of the various political factors playing in the distribution and development of the world transportation networks. It points out that the distribution and development of the networks form the basis of the economic and political ties between countries in the world and regions within a state. The political factors arising from this basis will in turn inflect and regulate the development and distribution of these networks.
